Feeney Named Deputy Ranking Member on Space Subcommittee

U.S. Rep. Tom Feeney (R-Oviedo) today announced his appointment as Deputy Ranking Member on the House Space and Aeronautics Subcommittee.

"I look forward to working with Subcommittee Chairman Mark Udall (D-CO) and Ranking Member Ken Calvert (R-CA) to promote America's Vision for Space Exploration and to sustain the vitality of the Kennedy Space Center. I will fight to continue the progress NASA has made in returning the Space Shuttle to regular flight and to develop the Shuttle's successor.

"I will use my new position to ensure America retains its preeminence as a spacefaring country and maintains its leadership in the aerospace industry. America's space and aviation endeavors must remain second-to-none in order to protect our national security and to sustain economic growth," said Feeney.

This subcommittee of the House Science Committee oversees the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) as well as aviation research and development activities at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and commercial space regulatory and promotion activities at the FAA and Department of Commerce. Ralph Hall (R-TX), the Ranking Member of the House Science Committee, appointed Feeney to this leadership position.
